A bitless bridle is a bridle that does not use a bit in the horses mouth. When looking for a bitless bridle it is of the utmost importance that you choose an anatomical, well fitting bitless bridle. A sidepull specifically has the reins attached to the sides of the noseband of the bridle.

How to fit a bitless bridle

You can determine yourself if your bitless bridle fits your horse correctly. The General rule of thumb is that the noseband should be just below the horse's JUKBEEN.

You should be able to put 2-3 fingers underneath your horses noseband on the middle of the noseband. The noseband its self should be placed 2 fingers underneath the cheek bone. If you are unsure if your bitless bridle fits correctly please contact ushereand we would be more than happy to help.

What size bitless bridle do I need?

If you are between sizes the general rule of thumb is to choose for the smaller size of the two.

Are bitless bridles allowed in Dressage competitions?

In the Netherlands, riders can compete bitless in dressage up to the ZZ-Light level since April 1st, 2025.
